Each year, the South River Federation hosts this event to raise funds for all the great works they do, and we can't wait to support them. And while we're at it, maybe win a thing or two in the silent auction. As usual, we had some questions about the event. Here's what you need to know.
Parking. Since the event is at Homestead Gardens, parking should be a eeze. Easy, and free. Check and check!
Tickets. The event isn't sold out, so you can still order tickets online, or by calling 410-224-3802. In advance, tickets are $65 for members and $75 for non-members. At the door, they'll be $85.
The schedule. Check-in begins at 6 p.m. at which point guests will have about two hours to owse the silent auction and make their bids, all the while enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres--but more on that in the next paragraphs. At around 8:30 the silent auction will close, and there will be an awards presentation for Volunteer of the Year, South River Hero, and Don Riddle's Corporate Stewardship Award. At 8:45 the live auction will begin, and from 9:30 to 10 p.m. guests can continue to enjoy more food, drinks, and music.
Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, you say? You bet! The Palate Pleasers will be providing heavy hors d’oeuvres to the theme Sweet, Savory, Salty, Spicy, and Sour. That deliciousness will include asparagus and cheese quiche, mini crab cakes, and key lime tartlettes. Vegetarian options will be available, and the bar--we knew you were wondering--is open.
Tall heels or kitten? It's a draw. We suspect the dancing will be limited (plus for tall heels), but the seating will be limited and unreserved, and tables will be cocktail style (point for kitten.)
What to wear. We knew you'd ask. The dress code is "Annapolis Casual." For women, that means nice pants, a skirt, even an informal dress; and for men, khakis, a button down, and a sports coat.
Heads Up. Do yourself a favor, and take a gander at some of the auction items available, so you'll be well-versed and know where to beeline on Saturday night. (southriverfederation.net) With so many great items, the competition may get a little intense. Even we've got our eye on a few things... So do yourself a favor and check it out so you'll know what to bid on as you dodge elbows. With a weeklong stay in France on the docket, we wouldn't feel right if we didn't warn you.
See you there!
