Our focus this year is on recycling which will have an immediate impact. Along with online registration, which will save thousands of printed registration forms from going unused, several new eco-friendly aspects will be incorporated into the day's event. We will be collecting and recycling paper cups from the bike and run coarse and plastic bottles at Great Marsh Park. It is estimated that 90% of the day's recyclable trash that is generated will be recycled. Over 50,000 paper cups and 30,000 plastic bottles. Also, athletes will be encouraged to recycle their bib numbers if they don't plan to display them and their swimming caps. Waste Management will be assisting us with our “Going Green” mission and will be donating thirty recycle receptacles that will be located at Great Marsh Park. With the help of informed volunteers trash will be directed into the proper receptacles. We will also have volunteers along the course that will collect and dispose of the trash into the proper roll offs.

Foxwell say's “I thought we would try and make a difference and start small. Once I met with Gerry and we got a plan in place we realized how HUGE this was really going to be. It is amazing that something as simple as promoting and raising environmental awareness could have a profound impact on our life as well as the well-being of our world. Awareness really does ing about a change in behavior.

Triathletes are “doers”. Once led, they will follow. Once left alone, they will act, taking home the message of Environmental responsibility.
