His jersey might read No. 2, but Joshua has his sights set just a little bit higher in life. Listing his accomplishments in winter sports—which date back more than a decade of this 18-year-old's life –this senior's a specialist with the roundball, to say the least. A veteran tailback on the gridiron, he's also played the point pretty much his entire career on the hardwood. This season, he's averaging 12 points, seven assists and six steals per game for the Mustangs, as they look to advance through the state playoffs, which began at the end of Fe uary. But his hard work doesn't end when the whistle blows. Joshua boasts a 3.3 GPA, is in the top quarter of his class, and is a part of Project Lead the Way, a pre-engineering college-prep program. He's also the speaking captain for the basketball team, a four-year honor student, member of Key Club, and a senior student mentor. “I love the competition and camaraderie and school pride that basketball creates among our team, students, family and friends,” he says. “Basketball ings us together and motivates us to increase our skills, do our best, and provide encouragement, one to another, to succeed.” The youngest child of Lee Gail, Jr. and Lisa Gail, Joshua lives with siblings Jasmyne, 21, and Jordan, 19, in Laurel.
