rMs. Bruce will speak on “How to Publish a Non-Fiction Book in the Ever-Changing Publishing World.” She has written several highly acclaimed non-fiction books, including her latest, Hostage Nation: Columbia’s Guerilla Army and the Failed War on Drugs. In 2001 No Apparent Danger was published and details the volcanic disaster in Columbia. Ms. Bruce co-produced the award-winning film, “The Kidnapping of Ingrid Betancourt,” in 2008 for HBO, which won the coveted DuPont Columbia Broadcast Journalism award. She also co-produced two other films, “Held Hostage in Columbia” and “Pip and Zastrow – An American Friendship.” This, her third documentary portrays then Annapolis Mayor, Pip Moyer’s lasting friendship during segregation with black man, Zastrow Simms, a convicted felon.
Victoria attended Santa Ana College in CA before earning her MS in Geology from University of CA – Riverside. As an expert geologist, she hosted the Discovery Channel’s “Pompeii: The Last Day.” She has lived in the Annapolis area for 13 years and has a six year old who also loves to write.
