This cele ation is an opportunity to recount the success of Maryland’s only free-standing emergency center in a rural community. Guests will meet the physicians, nurses and other clinical care providers who save lives at the center 24 hours a day, every day of the year.r
The Center is located at 115 Shoreway Drive at the intersection of Nesbitt Road and US Route 50 in Queenstown. Festivities begin at 11:00 am and will include a light lunch. As part of the cele ation, the staff of the Queen Anne's Emergency Center will recognize their colleagues in law enforcement, fire safety and emergency management services for the many ways they work together to care for the community.

Since opening on October 4, 2010, the staff of the Queen Anne's Emergency Center has treated over 13,000 people of all ages, far exceeding projections for how much the center would be used in its first year.

The Queen Anne's Emergency Center began as a partnership between Queen Anne's County government, the University of Maryland Medical System and Shore Health System. The center's staff includes board certified emergency medicine physicians, experienced emergency nurses and hospital-experienced radiology and laboratory technologists.

Equipped with 13 treatment rooms and onsite diagnostic imaging and laboratory services, the Queen Anne's Emergency Center has the resources needed to care for people of all ages who come with acute illnesses, injuries and trauma as well as minor injuries. When patients need advanced diagnostic testing and treatment only available in an inpatient hospital setting, arrangements are made for transport by ambulance or helicopter to a hospital.

The residents of Queen Anne's County have shown their enthusiasm for this long-awaited healthcare service by supporting many fundraising activities, which have raised more than $1 million for equipment used every day to treat the residents of the community.
