“Maibock is one of my favorite beer styles but this one has an extra hoppiness that sets it above the rest. But don't get me wrong. It's not a “hoppy” beer. It has a ton of malt character too. The balance is pretty amazing. This beer is going to be huge!” says Old Dominion's graphic designer, Kyle Holtgren.
Rams Head will have limited edition glasses for the beer release. The souvenir glass for Big Thaw Bock will be available for $4 at 4 p.m. on release day. Patrons who purchase the glass also receive a fill-up of the Big Thaw Bock and $1 refills during the 4-6pm release party.
According to Walter Trifari, Head Brewmaster at Old Dominion, “As the chill of winter melts away, a new, lush world is revealed. Big Thaw Bock is ewed with 100% malted barley and authentic German noble hops, our Maibock is a perfect companion for the season of spring. This seasonal beer pairs well with shrimp, crab dip, lobster or steamed mussels. And you can also try it with roasted pork; for dessert, a slice of carrot cake.”
