Chrome City Ride
Benedictine School, Caroline County
On July 13, the 10th Annual Chrome City Ride for Benedictine took place in Caroline County. The event features motorcycles and classic cars that ride in escorted convoys to the Benedictine School in Caroline County. Attendees gather to raise funds for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Dorchester General Hospital
In mid July the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary’s Nursing Grant Committee presented nursing students with scholarships who have met its high standards of academic excellence and passionate for the medical industry. Recognition Ceremony, Grasonville
On June 20th, Hospice of Queen Anne’s (HQA)—a nonprofit organization that offers one-of-a-kind care for individuals in the advanced stages of illness—was honored for its stellar reputation and scope of influence among its industry. HQA was chosen for recognition by the publication Exclusively Series, who also hosted the special awards ceremony and dinner at Annie’s Paramount Steaks with Jordan Publishing, Inc.

KIFA Gallery, Stevensville
Kent Island Federation of Arts (KIFA) hosted its 15th Annual Photography Show on July 14th at its gallery in Stevensville. The free show displays more than 100 amateur and professional photographers and is one of the organization’s largest events and fundraisers. Entrance fees and cash prizes go toward the artists, as KIFA’s mission is to develop and allocate resources to provide gallery and studio space, instruction, art shows, and events for the community.

Tree of Lights Fundraiser
Shore Regional Cancer Center, Easton
The Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s 27th Annual Tree of Lights Fundraiser, held in July, raised $7,000 to purchase a brand new C-Qual Breastboard for the Shore Regional Cancer Center’s Requard Radiation Oncology Center in Easton. The C-Qual Breastboard is most often used for treating breast cancer patients, but can also be used for lung, cervical, spine, head, and neck treatments.

Eastern Shore landscape
The scorching heat didn’t stop local and international artists from participating in the 7th Annual Plein Air Competition & Arts Festival in Easton from July 18–24. Artists set up along roadsides, waterlines, gardens, and streets to capture different points of view of the Eastern Shore, as well as network and sell their work. This juried event awarded more than $16,000 in prize money in 2010.

Fashion Show for Charity
Robin Hood Shop, Cambridge
The Robin Hood Shop, an apparel resale store located in Cambridge, held its annual Robin Hood Fashion Show in July and donated proceeds to the Dorchester General Hospital (DGH). Women that modeled on the runway were all DGH Auxiliary volunteers and showcased suits, causal wear, festive blouses, and more.
