Suzy sang Whitney Houston's, I Will Always Love You in the first round and blew away the judges, J. Ernest Green, Kevin Lebling, and Cat Stratakis and the audience who also had a vote.

But it was her rendition of Martina McBride's “Anyway,” in the final round that had the audience in tears. She dedicated it to her nephew, Christopher Jones who was killed two years ago while riding his bike in Crofton. The other two finalists were Brandon Hardesty, lead singer of Bumpin Uglies, from Annapolis, and Melinda Clay from Harwood.

Suzy Estrada studied Opera Performance at West Virginia Wesleyan College and then studied in Italy for two semesters. She sings at Riva Trace Baptist Church, writes music and continues to study Italian while taking care of her five children ages 12 years to nineteen months.

The final field of twelve contestants were picked at five auditions held at The Whiskey in West Street in Fe uary. More than sixty singers vied for the chance to participate in this annual event. Annapolis Idol is a fund-raising event for the non-profit Anne Arundel Conflict Resolution Center, which aids in non-violent resolution of personal and community conflict. We provide mediation, anger management training, prisoner counseling/training and other services to individuals and groups. We are role models for successful communication and conflict resolution so that individuals, groups, even whole communities can learn, be and pass it forward.
