40th Annual Ocean City Seaside Boat Show

Approximately 350 boats and over 140 exhibitors will be at the Ocean City Convention Center for the 40th Annual Ocean City Boat Show as well as over 50 boat dealers, bass boats and accessory show specials, and more.
Chesapeake Fire & Ice Festival

Located in historic downtown Easton, the event features dozens of artfully crafted ice sculptures, music, and family-friendly activities. This winter event brought to town an estimated 8,000 people over the course of two days. This year’s event kicks off on Friday, February 17th with the kick off night. Ice Lab and their team of ice artists will be here doing live carvings. The festivities continue through Saturday with opportunities to tour the ice sculptures and see additional live carvings. Events will include family fun activities, Stews & Brews, entertainment, seasonal sales and shopping, and more!

Pickering Creek Audubon Center will welcome visitors for our annual Great Backyard Bird Count! Experienced birders will be conducting a center-wide winter bird survey as part of the largest instantaneous snapshot of global bird populations around the globe, the Great Backyard Bird Count. Additional volunteers of all birding skill levels are needed to join the survey group to listen and point out birds that might otherwise be missed. A family-friendly bird walk is also scheduled, complete with a scavenger hunt for little ones and an opportunity to make suet for winter birds visiting the Center’s feeders.

Stews & Brews will feature 30+ Craft Brewers, Wineries and Distillers, with unlimited tastings and 10 Restaurant / Caterers will offer samplings of stews to Festival goers. A tasting glass and stew sampling is included in your General Admission Ticket. Food Only (non-drinking) tickets available. Restaurants / Caterers will have small plates for sale as well.
Frederick Douglass 205th Birthday Celebration

Maryland Governor, Larry Hogan declared 2018 the year of Douglass. Since then, Frederick Augustus Bailey Douglass has been celebrated every year. Douglass was born on Maryland's Eastern Shore. His actual birth date is unknown, and he chose to celebrate it on February 14th later in life. It is in Easton, Maryland where the Operation Frederick Douglass On The Hill will remember, honor and celebrate the 205th anniversary of Douglass's birth on February 18, 2023, at this ticketed event.

The weather was perfect for the 2022 HC5K! Clear, crisp with little to no wind. The 2023 5K will be run on Sunday, February 19, with the hopes the weather will be chilly and clear. The rain/snow date is Sunday, Feb. 26th, just in case Mother Nature does not cooperate this year. Our event is a family-friendly/dog-friendly race run during the doldrums of winter. We get you off the couch and out of the house for this fun run. Start and finish at the Kent Island Elementary School and the course takes you along the scenic Cross Island Trail.

Philadelphia-based James Day and the Fish Fry perform all styles of New Orleans Music: A Gumbo mix of Street Parade music, Cuban Rumbas, Swamp Pop, Zydeco, and New Orleans Classics. Saving the Darkness: How to Put a Dimmer on Light Pollution and Bring Back the Night Sky

How many stars can you see from your home? For many Americans, the answer is only a handful. Our ancestors once saw thousands. The growing flood of artificial light pollution, and disappearance of our night skies, are taking a toll on people and animals. But there are ways to combat it. Kelsey Johnson, University of Virginia astronomer and creator of the “Dark Skies, Bright Kids” program, has devoted her career to understanding the stars and preserving their beauty for future generations. In our February Earth Optimism lecture, she’ll reveal some of the surprising costs our 24-hour illumination takes on nature—and some surprisingly easy ways to fix it.
