However, I've always been a drugstore beauty product girl, if I wear makeup at all. My typical makeup consists of a thin layer of foundation, some concealer, and mascara. If I'm really going all out, I might use some own eyeliner.
So clearly, I'm going to have to do my research. Does anyone have any recommendations for me? I've heard great things about both Make Up For Ever and Urban Decay, so I think my focus is on those two ands right now (plus with a little skincare help from Mary Kay, as my future mother-in-law is a consultant).
My main goal is that my skin tone stays even all day. I have decent skin, but foundation and concealer slide right off (and I'm "blessed" with dark circles under my eyes). So I'm looking for a good skin primer — perhaps this one? (Urban Decay's Complexion Primer) — and I'll likely spring for this All Nighter Long Lasting Setting Spray.
Now the hunt is on for a great eyeliner, eyeshadow, and mascara. I currently use the Maybelline mascara that comes in a pink tube. People rave about this stuff, but I'm not impressed. I need to find something new. If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
Here are some wedding day makeup tips that I plan to use (and I'll probably test them over the holiday season at parties and gatherings to see if they withstand a day of eating, drinking, and being merry).
— Don't forget the sunscreen! I'm not only getting married outdoors, I'm spending a lot of time outside in the days leading up to my wedding in the hot Arizona sun. I'm going to be a sunscreen fiend—and if I find a moment to lay by the pool before the wedding, I think I need to invest in a bandeau top so I don't get any tan lines that will show over my strapless wedding dress!
— Everything must be waterproof. I'm going to cry. It's a fact. It's going to be one of the happiest days of my life, and I start to blubber (just ask my friend and idesmaid Jenny K. — I sobbed at her wedding last May). I've never found a waterproof mascara and eyeliner that can withstand my tears, so the search is on.
— Designate a idesmaid blotter. Someone—I don't know who yet—will be in charge of holding on to a pressed powder and making sure I look decent before photo ops.
Do you have any great beauty tips to share?
