Requirements
Applicants must provide their name, age, birth date, state or country of birth, current address, social security number, and any previous marriage information. Only one person must appear to apply for a marriage license in all counties except Cecil.

Age
You must be 18 or over to apply for a marriage license. Proof of age is not required if both of you are 21 or older. Those 17 or younger must have consent from a parent, and should call the license office prior to applying.

Marriage license fees vary from $35 to $70, depending on the county in which you marry.

The marriage license is valid for six months after being issued.

Where to Go
rMarriage licenses can be obtained from the Circuit Court Clerk’s office in the county in which the marriage is taking place. Out-of-state residents can apply using a non-resident affidavit, which can be sent to you by the clerk’s office or downloaded from the website.
