Local Weddings: Ashley and Robert in Grasonville

The venue. The couple looked high and low for locations in Maryland to hold their wedding, but couldn't find anything that didn't seem like a cookie-cutter place to them. As soon as they walked into Bridges, a restaurant overlooking the Chesapeake Bay, Ashley says she knew they had found the right place. It helped that the staff at the restaurant were both accommodating and fun in planning the wedding, she adds.

The attire. Ashley's five bridesmaids, including her best friend and maid of honor, wore short black bridesmaid dresses from BCBG. Matching black shoes and silver flower jewelry rounded out the look, which Ashley called "beautiful." As for the bride herself, she donned a Priscilla of Boston dress that she fell in love with the minute she tried it on. "It was a romantic, girly dress, which I wanted for our special day," she says.

The wedding day. September 17th started out as an overcast day with sprinkles of rain threatening to put a damper on the celebration. However, the sky cleared up just in time for the ceremony. "I remember walking down the aisle and seeing Robby and all the people we love sharing in our special day," Ashley says.

The reception. The restaurant was decorated in a pink, white, and black color scheme, including black tablecloths and pink and white flowers. Straying from the norm, the couple picked local band No Pets for Noah to play at the reception. They might not be the typical wedding band, but the two wanted upbeat, fun music for dancing.

Married life. After the wedding, the newlyweds spent time on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts, where they relaxed by the beach. When they returned, they moved into a new apartment together. Ashley reports that married life is going well, and they're looking to buy a house in the near future. — Kelsey Casselbury
