Local Weddings: Casey and Charles in Stevensville

On August 30th, 2010, Casey traveled to Salisbury to visit Charles. As they strolled around the neighborhood, Charles bent down to tie his shoe. Casey was looking in the opposite direction and commenting on the neighborhood. She recalls, "Charles wasn't responding, so I turned around and he was on his knee with the ring out. He asked me to marry him and I, of course, accepted."

The Venues. Charles and Casey were married at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Denton and headed to Maria's Love Point Bed and Breakfast in Stevensville afterward for the reception. "We chose the church because it was my childhood church," Casey says. "It also happened to be the church where my parents were married. My reverend and Charles' deacon performed our ceremony."

The couple chose Maria's Love Point Bed and Breakfast for the reception site because of the beauty and atmosphere of the residence. "I always wanted an outdoor wedding under a dimly lit tent near the water, and Maria's provided exactly that," Casey says. Maria's took care of reserving the tent, tables, chairs, linens, lighting, and made recommendations for other local vendors the couple needed. "These factors in addition to their pricing made it an easy choice," Casey says. "It surpassed my expectations, I would make the same choice again and again."

The Bride's Dress. Casey wore a dress from the Stephanie Moonlight Bridal 2011 collection. Her white, strapless ball gown included lace layers, a beaded bodice, and covered buttons down the back. It also boasted a sweetheart neckline and a train. The bride also wore a two-tiered, elbow-length, white veil that featured bead detailing. Mrs. Duld tied it all together with hot pink heels to match the bridesmaids.

The Bride's Favorite Moment. Casey's favorite moment of the day occurred when the doors to the church opened and she began to walk down the aisle. "I was so happy and the look on Charles' face is something I hope I never forget," Casey says. However, there was a comical moment, too: The ceremony was very traditional and included a declaration of intent, exchanging of vows and rings, and lighting of the unity candle. Casey was quite nervous before the ceremony and recalls, "My husband managed to ease my nerves and make it very special for us by being terribly sweet and even a bit humorous." Casey continues to add that the tension was lifted when she accidentally put Charles' ring on the wrong hand. "While he blames me for this mistake, he doesn't have a good excuse for why he didn't give me the correct hand to begin with!"

The Honeymoon. For their honeymoon, Casey and Charles decided on St. Lucia. They spent seven romantic nights at the all-inclusive Sandals La Toc. The honeymooners made sure to get a taste of the culture by shopping at the local market and relaxing poolside. They also added a kick of excitement to their trip as the newlyweds zip-lined through the rain forest and tried their hand at deep sea fishing.

The Married Life

"Married life is wonderfully busy!" Casey says. The newlyweds are happy to finally be living together and Casey loves coming home to Charles. They both have realized that much compromise is required when you begin to share your life with another. "But, we are learning together," Casey says.
