The Navy Midshipmen started their 2015 season off in convincing fashion, cruising to a 48-10 victory over the Colgate Raiders Saturday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
Navy's first game as a member of the American Athletic Conference after 134 years as an independent initially started slow but the blue and gold quickly picked up the pace. Following a fumble on the opening drive that led to a Raiders field goal, the Mids stormed out to a 31-3 halftime lead.
Running back Chris Swain ran for a career-high 126 yards, including a 52-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Quarterback and Heisman hopeful Keenan Reynolds didn't put up the usual big numbers, running for 21 yards and passing for 67, but he continued to inch closer to the FBS career total touchdown mark with a one-yard second quarter touchdown run.
Navy ran for 371 yards and has now scored at least 30 points 15 times since 2013. Navy will take next weekend off and host East Carolina at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 19.
