Christmas music is now in constant rotation on our radio dials. Each night, colorful lights and decorations now convene on our evening drives to and fro. Being the first full weekend in December also means holiday events are kicked into high gear. Both sides of the shore are known to represent the holiday season in strong fashion and this year is no different.
Take your little ones to Baltimore’s Lyric Opera House to see their favorite characters from Sofia the First and Jake and the Never Land Pirates in Disney Junior Live on Tour! Pirate and Princess Adventure on Friday. Can’t make it to that showing? Don’t worry. There will be 12, 3 and 6 p.m. performances Saturday. The Captain Avery Museum in Shady Side will host its free Children's Tree Trimming Party Sunday from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Kids will help trim the museum’s Christmas tree, create holiday crafts, enjoy light refreshments and meet Santa himself.
On Saturday at 9 a.m., Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis will hold its Second Annual Jingle Bell Run & Walk which features a 5K run course and 3K walk course. The run benefits ovarian and lung cancer programs and research.
Beginning Friday and running through Dec. 15, Pasadena Theatre Company will present “A Christmas Carol” in the Studio 194 Theatre at the Chesapeake Arts Center in Brooklyn Park. “A Christmas Carol” follows Scrooge as he learns to get over his curmudgeonly ways and finds out what Christmas spirit really means. Tickets are $19 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under.
The Renaissance Festival may be over for the year but its creativity continues as the second production of A Victorian Christmas Music Hall kicks off Friday at 6 p.m. at Millersville’s Historic Baldwin Hall. Running through Dec. 21, this show will take us back to Victorian London with music, variety acts, comedy and dancing. Tickets are $30 for all shows.
The Patuxent Nursery in Bowie will be hosting its Winter Festival on Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Enjoy free snacks and family activities while greeting Santa when he arrives at 10:30.
The Eastern Shore has no shortage of events promoting holiday spirit.
Friday’s Centreville Christmas Parade will begin and end at Queen Anne’s County High School from 6:30-8 p.m. The parade theme will be “Cele ating 200 Years of American Soldiers.” Participants and spectators are encouraged to donate care package items that will be mailed to troops currently serving overseas.
How do you donate to a worthy cause and receive a peppermint shake? Stop by Chick-fil-A in Easton on Saturday from 12-3 p.m. for the Cram the Ram event hosted by Talbot County Young Professionals. The goal is to stuff two Ram pickup trucks full of new, unwrapped toys that will support their 10th Annual Toys for Tots Drive. The event will also have special giveaways.
The 2nd Annual Reindeer Stampede 5K Run/Walk & Reindeer Dash will be held at Rock Hall’s Main Street on Saturday at 10 a.m. This event kicks off the festivities planned for Rock Hall that day. At 10:25, there will be the 2nd Annual Rock Hall Elementary Reindeer Dash at Rock Hall Village & Main Street that is free for kids under 10 years old. All finishers will receive a medal.
