You can’t have a Mardi Gras celebration without beignets. They’re essentially little donuts, fried to golden perfection. Don’t skip the sauce. It adds a much welcomed sweetness to the donuts. br
Ingredients
For donuts:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup flour
1 cup water
4 eggs
oil for frying
For sauce:
2 ounces cream cheese, softened
6 Tbsp. powdered sugar
juice of half a blood orange
Directions
Heat butter and water over medium until melted and mixed. Stir in flour and mix well. Add in eggs, one at a time, until a batter forms. Heat 1/4 inch of oil over medium. Once hot, drop dough by tablespoon into the oil. Cook until golden then flip. Cook until golden on the other side. Remove to a paper-towel lined plate. Sprinkle with powdered sugar
To prepare sauce, combine all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk until fully incorporated.
