Crawfish Boil & Muskrat Stew Fest
to
437 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613Celebrate the Eastern Shore’s muskrat heritage and more on Sunday, Feb. 24 at the Crawfish Boil & Muskrat Stew Fest in downtown Cambridge, Maryland. The festival happens every year the day after the<a href=^'http://www.nationaloutdoorshow.org^'> National Outdoor Show</a>, which is a celebration of local culture with muskrat skinning championships that draw contenders from Maryland and from Louisiana, where muskrat are prevalent. (That Louisiana connection is where the crawfish come in.) So it's a real Muskrat Weekend!
The Crawfish Boil & Muskrat Stew Fest is set for 1-6pm in Cannery Way in the 400 block of Race Street in Cambridge, Maryland (Just outside the High Spot Gastropub at 305 High St.). The outdoor event features live music with the great blues music of Jimmy Cole and his All Star Band, food, libations, and more. Plus, new this year, the Muskrat Leg Eating Contest at 4pm! (Registration begins Feb. 1 at the High Spot, 305 High St., Cambridge.)
The menu, prepared by Chef Patrick Fanning of High Spot, Stoked, and Rock Lobstah, includes raw oysters, smoked muskrat, muskrat tacos, muskrat gravy fries, crawfish cakes, and other menu items to be announced. Hot dogs and burgers will also be on the menu for the less courageous.
This is an outdoor event. In the event of rain, festival-goers can take cover at the High Spot Gastropub, 305 High Street, Cambridge, MD.
The Crawfish Boil and Muskrat Stew Fest will be a ticketed entry, with a $5 admission charge. Proceeds benefit Downtown Cambridge (formerly known as Cambridge Main Street).
