Fall weather is back in action, pumpkins are waiting to be picked, and apples are ready to be made into the perfect apple pie. Luckily, most of our favorite fall activities take place outside and 2020 is not keeping us from participating in them. All we are missing is the perfect outfit. That means it is time to announce the fall fashion trends of 2020. It’s time to break out our favorite sweater and boots and reinvent them to match this year’s trends.
Doll Dresses
Dresses can be an easy and quick alternative to pulling together a whole outfit. This year, the perfect fall dress is a doll dress. This dress is relaxed and casual, making it a great choice whether you are going to the pumpkin patch or just running errands. The dress features a more fitted up top with small puffy sleeves and then has a flowing skirt below. Pair the dress with a cute cardigan, knit tights, and a pair of boots for your go to fall outfit.
Marigold
Whether it is a sweater, dress, cardigan, or blouse, marigold is in. Just like the flower, this yellow-orange color is what should be filling your closet. Normally we think of maroon, brown, and burnt orange as fall colors, but this year we can add marigold to the list. Brighten up your look with a marigold sweater and a pair of jeans, or add a pop of color with a marigold tank under a cute brown cardigan.
Sheer Layers
Especially considering the uncertain Maryland weather, we should be layering up in the fall. Many days the mornings are freezing and by the mid-afternoon we are back in the seventies. Be ready for any weather throughout the day with layers. This year, try sheer, mesh layers. Even that little bit of cloth can help prevent a chill and keep your style up to date. Try a tight long sleeve tee with jeans, boots, and a floor length sheer cardigan.
Maxi Dresses
Remember maxi dresses?? Well they are back and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Add a little wedge or a pair of suede moccasins to a flowy fall maxi dress and embrace the crisp fall air. The options are endless whether you want a solid color paired with a rustic belt (choose solid marigold for a true fall win), or a floral print dress with an animal hide vest. This year, the more rustic the better.
