South River // Volleyball, Lacrosse
The 2013 Anne Arundel County Volleyball Player of the Year led South River to a regular season county title this past season and also helped lead the Seahawks girls lacrosse team to a 2013 county title, falling to eventual state champion Broadneck in the state regional semi-final.
Carter earned First Team All-County the past two seasons and Second Team All-County in her freshman season for volleyball and Second Team All-County in lacrosse.
Her accolades will surely benefit her as she heads north to play lacrosse at Penn State.
For Carter, who has played lacrosse since age five, becoming a Nittany Lion was an easy choice.
“I just loved the atmosphere, the school, and the balance of sports and academics,” Carter says.
When she isn’t helping to lead the Seahawks to the postseason, Carter also plays for the Maryland United Lacrosse Club in Annapolis and Bay Area Volleyball Academy (BAVA) in Millersville.
Being a high school athlete ings the best of both worlds for Carter, a social environment and the ability to take part in what she loves.
“I love being part of a team,” she says. “It’s the best part of high school. It’s fun and I get to be with my best friends every day after school.”
