This winter, ballots were mailed to nearly 150 attorneys practicing in Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot counties. They were asked, “If you needed to recommend an attorney (other than yourself) to a friend or loved one, which Eastern Shore attorneys would you recommend in the following specialties?” We then listed a variety of practice areas and explained that they could nominate up to three attorneys in each category. We further explained that the voting was anonymous and that only original forms may be submitted—no copies.
A true peer review survey is a rarity in this day and age—most publications don’t take the time and trouble to do the large mailings and ballot tallying—which makes these results more meaningful. These are not “editors’ picks” or the result of limitless ballots from the general public. These honors only come directly from other attorneys—people who really know what it takes to be a good lawyer on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. We are especially gratified because we believe this poll provides an invaluable service to our readers.
