State of Maryland Applies for Additional $300 Per Week in Federal Unemployment Benefits
Governor Hogan announced on Wednesday that Maryland has submitted an application to the Federal Emergency Management Administration for the Lost Wages Assistance grant, which will provide an additional $300 per week to Marylanders who are unemployed due to COVID-19. Eligible claimants will receive the $300 per week in benefits retroactive to the week ending August 1, 2020 and ending no later than December 26, 2020.
Annapolis Cancels the Fall Sailboat and Powerboat Shows
The City of Annapolis announced that The United States Powerboat Show, October 1-4th and the United Sailboat Show, October 8-12, will be cancelled this year because of COVID-19. City leaders and boat show organizers have been in conversation with officials from the Anne Arundel County Department of Health for months trying to work out a plan to develop protocols to keep visitors to the boat shows safe. In recent meetings, it was determined that there is not a way to create the necessary conditions to maintain public health and safety.
