When your child is diagnosed with a disability, it can be a long and lonely road. The Arc Central Chesapeake Region is there every step of the way: to guide parents, connect families to resources, and to empower everyone to feel confident and capable of helping their child thrive.
How can you impact children, youth, and their families with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout your community?
1. Support the Family Fund with a donation.
The Family Fund is a grant for children with disabilities under 21 years old. The fund helps families afford critical therapies, specialized medical equipment, and learning opportunities that are not covered by insurance.

2. Adopt a family or child through the Holiday Giving Program.
Help brighten the holidays for a family in need. The Arc will supply you with a wish list from each child so you can purchase the things they actually need. Whether you do the shopping, or just contribute financially – you are ensuring more than 150 kids will be able to enjoy the holidays. This is a great way for businesses to engage employees around the holiday season.

3. Refer families to The Arc for a free Family Navigation consultation.
Family Navigation is a free service for families with kids with disabilities under 21. Schedule an appointment with our Family Navigator so you can discuss your specific situation, and get recommendations and/or help with your child’s needs.
The Arc’s Children, Youth, & Their Families program is funded through the community. Check out some of the opportunities our supporters are creating, here.
