Why not celebrate the end of the work week by partying for a cause? The Talbot Historical Society (THS) is hosting a cocktail reception - Our Past Meets Our Future: Talbot Historical Society's 60th Anniversary Celebration - on Friday, October 10th at THS' campus, located at 25 South Washington Street in Easton.
A non-profit organization, THS was formed in 1954 by local residents to preserve the heritage of the Eastern Shore. Friday's event isn't just a celebration of THS' longstanding service to the community, but an important fundraiser to help maintain its continued presence in Talbot County. Proceeds from the event will benefit THS' renovation program and community outreach efforts.
We recently spoke with Joan Levy, THS' executive director, to find out everything you need to know about this event!
The Basics:
Date: Friday, October 10th
Time: 5 to 7 p.m.
Location: Talbot Historical Society in Easton
The Details:
What can guests expect? An evening of lite fare, delicious beverages, and a glimpse into the Historical Society's past, present, and future. Guests can visit the Mary Jenkins House, soon to be home to the new permanent Talbot County museum, where Patrick Rogan, the museum designer, will be on hand to discuss plans and share preliminary sketches of the new space. Special items from THS' collection will be showcased at the James Neall House where Bob Shannahan, chairman of the collections committee, will give remarks on each item. THS' garden will also serve as a location for a short program. Additionally, throughout the evening, guests will have opportunities to bid on unique experiences focusing on history and culture, and the “Dine Around Our Historic Towns” raffle - several gift baskets filled with a wide assortment of certificates to Talbot County restaurants - will be up for grabs at $20 per ticket (or six tickets for $100!).
Food and drinks? Guests will enjoy hors d'oeuvres, provided by the Easton-based gourmet restaurant Mason's, and complimentary wine and cocktails.
What about parking? There is free parking along the streets of downtown Easton and in the parking lot adjacent to the Historical Society.
The dress code? Since the event will begin at the close of the business day, the dress code is business attire. That way, you can simply head straight from the office to the party where you can start celebrating the weekend with a glass of wine or your favorite cocktail!
Are tickets still available? You're in luck! Tickets are available for $100, however they MUST be purchased in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door. You can purchase them by calling THS at 410-822-0773 or sending an email to director@hstc.org.
