The 25th Annual Leukemia Cup kicked off its weekend of festivities with the Summer Cocktail Party on Friday, June 2nd at the Annapolis Yacht Club. Guests enjoyed an evening on the water with live and silent auctions, and complimentary drinks and heavy hors d'oeuvres.
Gary Jobson was the event emcee and was also honored for his 25 years of service as the National Chairman of the Leukemia Cup Regattas by one of his lymphoma treatment physicians, Dr. Aaron Rapoport of University of Maryland Medical Center, who was the keynote speaker.
The sold-out event raised more than $50,000, for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Maryland Chapter. In total, this year's Leukemia Cup fundraising campaign raised $320,000.
The funds raised go towards the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), which is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS exists to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients. LLS carries out its mission by funding cutting edge research projects and providing patient services and education.
