The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of the Eastern Shore held its annual gala on Friday, June 12th, at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina in Cam idge.
The evening cele ated the 10 candidates who had spent 10 weeks fundraising for the nonprofit organization and announced the 2015 Man and Woman of the Year Award recipients: Tommy Bunce and Tracy Harrison.
A total of $245,000 was raised to benefit the organization. The funds go toward numerous blood cancer research projects and patient services programs, as well as advocacy efforts for patient care and access.
Speakers included Dr. Pat Brown, LLS supported researcher and Pediatric Oncologist of Johns Hopkins Childrens Hospital; blood cancer survivor Bob Smith; Hunter Allen, other of Girl of the Year, Meghan Allen; and Amy Pippin, speaking in honor of Eastern Shore LLS Legacy Family, The Bullocks and the Angie Bullock Citizenship Award. Additionally, Mick Cato received recognition on behalf of Otac, Ince and Hardee's, for their amazing sponsorship of nearly $30,000 in the three years that LLS has hosted the Man and Woman of the Year Campaign.
