The Rotary Club of Annapolis recently held its annual Crab Feast at the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis with more than 2,300 people in attendance.
With such a large crowd enjoying steamed crabs, corn, hot dogs, draft beer, and more, t's no exaggeration to say clearing up was a major exercise. There were 1,600 pounds of recyclables and 20,000 pounds of compostable material, including crab shells, mallets, beer cups, and more. The intrepid Rotarian clear-up workers have been officially re-named the Eco-Green Committee!
The event raised close to $60,000 from a combination of ticket sales and proceeds from the sale of t-shirts, souvenirs, bake goods, and raffle tickets. All proceeds will be returned to the community. The organization is accepting grant applications now - visit http://www.annapolisrotary.org/ to apply. The deadline is December 31st, 2014.
