Cambridge, MD - Dorchester County Tourism announced a vibrant new mural at Chesapeake College Cambridge Center in Downtown Cambridge, featuring three birds often seen in Dorchester – a green heron, a great blue heron, and an egret. Located at 418 Race Street, the mural was created by Red Swan, a women-owned, Baltimore-based mural studio. The mural was made possible by PNC, Mid-Shore Community Foundation & The Todd Fund, Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay, Chesapeake College, Downtown Cambridge, and University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science. An official unveiling took place on June 12.
Another mural popped up in May on Cosby Avenue in Cambridge, featuring a powerful quote by Coretta Scott King: "The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members." Located at Mount Moriah New Life Ministries, 1024 Cosby Ave., the mural was hand-painted by local artist Miriam Moran, and was partially funded by Cambridge City Council President Lajan Cephas, Dorchester Center for the Arts, and the Maryland State Arts Council.
