Busch Annapolis Library Fall Film Series

One of the most prolific and longest working directors in world cinema, Alfred Hitchcock directed 50 feature films in a career spanning 6 decades. Although he never won an Academy Award, Hitchcock’s influence over the art of making movies is second to none. In our Fall Film Series, we’ll view four of the master’s best. Annapolis cinephile, Ann Glenn, introduces each screening with facts and insights about the film’s production and actors and why it’s a standout. Each screening begins promptly at 6:00pm in the library’s large meeting room. Includes post-screening Q&A and discussion.

Spend an evening with our ArtReach team in The Cafe at Maryland Hall! ArtReach Poetry Night's give middle and high school students a chance to share poetry and live performances with an intimate audience in the Cafe. This month's event features students from our Jovenes Artistas guitar ensemble. Latino youth form Jovenas Artistas, one of our outreach programs, with the Baltimore Classical Guitar Society create the Jovenas Artistas Guitar Ensemble. The project runs four days a week after school for thirty-five weeks. All of the students and teaching artists participating are Latino.

Ballet Theatre of Maryland presents "Les Sylphides and Other Works"

Les Sylphides, to the music of Chopin, follows the “poet” as he dances with ghostly sylphs through the romantic atmosphere of a moonlit park. Described as “romantic reverie”, this one-act ballet celebrates the beauty of romantic ballet with a setting evocative of the Halloween season. Joining Les Sylphides on this program will be Sapphire Romance by Ballet Theatre of Maryland Founding Artistic Director Edward Stewart and Hijinks and Lullabies by guest choreographer Keith Lee. Lee, master choreographer, former American Ballet Theatre soloist, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater ballet master, has created Hijinks and Lullabies as a world premiere for Ballet Theatre of Maryland.

October 8th; Easton Airport
Easton Airport will host the 13th annual Easton Airport Day on Saturday, October 8. The annual event is a fun-filled gathering that offers a unique opportunity to visit the community airfield and see what flying is all about. Formation flyovers highlight the event with “Warbirds” flying patterns over the skies of Talbot County. The world-famous Rubber Chicken Drop Contest will return to delight the crowd as pilots attempt to hit the bed of a pickup truck while flying over the airport. Rare and unique aircraft, military jets, airport equipment, and interesting vehicles will be on display throughout Easton Airport Day. Photo-ops will be available with chances for families to sit inside select aircraft and meet the pilots that fly them. Community partners will join the airport with demonstrations, hands-on activities, and other fun things for families to enjoy.
International Edgar Allan Poe Festival and Awards
October 8th through 9th; Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum, Baltimore
The FREE festival will take place October 8 & 9, 2022, 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM, open to the public, at Poe Park, in front of Poe House, at 203 N. Amity St., Baltimore. Special events are ticketed, including “The Death Weekend Poe Places Bus Tour” of historic sites in Baltimore associated with Poe’s Death, the “Black Cat Ball at Westminster Hall: Til Death Do We Start” VIP packages include a special ceremony to renew or take your eternal vows in the famed Westminster Catacombs, and the “Edgar & Virginia Poe Death Exhibit” at Westminster Hall that explores the hidden history of Virginia Poe, the beloved wife and muse of Edgar Allan Poe. For those who cannot attend in person, the festival will feature several virtual programs and tours, live-streamed via Facebook Live @PoeBaltimore and YouTube.
8th Annual Arts in the Park Festival

National Cryptologic Museum Grand Opening

Ready to raise the woof? Join us for 'barktoberfest' where there will be plenty of steins and canines as we celebrate German beer, bavarian food, and pawesome four-legged friends. We'll be featuring a dog fashion/costume show down a catwalk, plenty of imported brews, and yard games. A portion of the proceeds will go directly to the SPCA of Anne Arundel which is still working on repairing a building from a collapsed roof. Expect additional traditional Octoberfest fun with stein holding contests and plenty of fall and European craft brews.

Seafood lovers can purchase a ticket for the event, which will provide access to plentiful and delicious local eats and drinks as well as entertainment, such as an expert-led Shuck Like a Pro tutorial and ORP's First Annual Oyster Shucking Competition - a qualifying event for the US National Oyster Shucking Competition Contest- all in support of ORP’s mission of restoring the Chesapeake Bay’s oyster population.
Annapolis Symphony Orchestra presents the ASO Brass Quintet

Join CBMM ACA certified staff members for two evening paddles to enjoy the evening sunset and the full moon. Participants are invited to bring their own kayak or rent one from CBMM. We ask paddlers to bring water, a head lamp, and a PFD if not renting one of our kayaks. Good for both the beginner and intermediate paddler. Participation is limited, and anyone age 16 or younger must be accompanied by an adult.
