The Vineyards at Dodon Virtual Wine Dinner

This winter, we’ve decided to "virtually" recreate Dodon’s wine dinners in the comfort of our own homes. The upcoming dinner will feature three wines paired with dishes presented by our friends at Tail Up Goat. While this is a self guided dinner, be sure to tune into Zoom at 7 pm, when the Tail Up Goat team and Dodon co-owners Polly Pittman & Tom Croghan will discuss the evening’s meal. The dinners and accompanying wine will be available for pickup on Thursday, February 18 between 2 - 5:30 pm. Native Orchid Ecology and Conservation

North America is home to over 200 orchid species, and more than half are endangered or threatened somewhere in their native range. The North American Orchid Conservation Center (NAOCC), an initiative of the Smithsonian Institution and the U.S. Botanic Garden, is working to is to secure the genetic diversity of native orchids for future generations. The NAOCC model for orchid conservation is based on public-private collaborations and includes more than fifty collaborating organizations from Florida to Alaska. Dennis Whigham, PhD, Senior Botanist, Smithsonian Environmental Research Center and Founding Director of the North American Orchid Conservation Center will present ecological issues associated with orchids and provide an overview of ongoing efforts to conserve native orchids in the U.S. and Canada.

The Snowflake Ball is going virtual! Join The Arc on February 20, for a one-hour Zoom dance party. All tickets are free – registration is limited to the first 100 registrants. Community Talk: Is My Child Ready for Middle School

The transition to middle school can be challenging for many students. Some have difficulty adjusting to its size and complexity. Others have problems adjusting to the social pressures. Still others have trouble adjusting to the more rigorous academic expectations. Suddenly, the work habits that enabled students to get by in elementary school may be inadequate for middle school success. If your child has a learning difference, these challenges can be even more difficult. Join the Summit School as they talk about preparing for middle school, understanding common middle school fears, and the transition to middle school for a child with a learning difference.
