The Smithsonian Craft Show features the work of recognized masters and outstanding innovators who are shaping the future of fine American craft. The show, in-person for the first time in three years, will be April 21-24 at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. Tickets are $20. Tickets are $10 for students or groups of 10 or more. Preview Nights on April 20 is chance to meet the artists and be among the first to scoop up their exceptionally crafted creations. Preview Night tickets are sold separately.

Turns out, it takes more than a day at the beach to understand the ecosystems at play along coastal shorelines. In this class, you’ll learn that each layer of beach has its place in the eco-system from the walkway where you enter the beach, the berm where you flop down with your towel and the low-tide terrace where you decide to whether or not to take the plunge.

In this program of the Art and Wellness Series, Stretch and Sketch, you will: View and discuss the painting of the Callahan Sisters by Charles Willson Peale. Choose a painting in the museum and sketch while discussing drawing techniques (materials provided). Do a stretching session in the garden with breathing techniques to help promote good posture and relieve stress.
Girl Scouts Cookies & Wine Event

Ward World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition & Art Festival

The Ward Foundation, the non-profit that operates the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art, Salisbury University, and hosts the historic Ward World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition & Art Festival, has made the decision to hold a modified, three-day event — April 22-24, 2022 — in lieu of the regular in-person event at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City, MD. Virtual modification of the competition will resemble the 2021 virtual event, with several exciting new components and competition categories, in addition to the return of live-streamed portions of judging.

1st Annual Bill Sweeney Fundraiser Gala

On April 23rd at 7pm, The Bill Sweeney Perinatal Care Fund will host its first annual Perinatal Loss Gala at the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel. The gala honors the life of the late Dr. Bill Sweeney, whose mission in life was to care for those who faced perinatal death and high risk pregnancies. Dr. William (Bill) Sweeney was a renowned perinatologist at Anne Arundel Medical Center whose sudden death left a large hole in the community. He provided compassion and comfort to those struggling with difficult pregnancies. Bill was instrumental in the development of the first freestanding perinatal palliative care program, SilverLeaf Counseling Services. It is the mission of the Bill Sweeney Perinatal Care Fund to ensure that this kind of support not only continues, but also grows and improves.

The Baltimore Station is celebrating 30 years of its signature fundraiser, Homerun for Recovery, with a new location and several new features. On Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 6:00 – 9:30 PM, guests will gather outdoors at Hammerjacks for an evening of gourmet fare, cocktails for guests to enjoy responsibly, music and a silent auction. Presented by Blue Halo the sports-themed event will benefit The Baltimore Station’s therapeutic residential and community-based outpatient treatment programs for veterans and others who are transitioning through the cycle of poverty, substance use disorder and homelessness to self-sufficiency.

Our LESLIE'S KIDS Educational Assistance Fund is for the benefit of the children whose mothers succumbed to her breast cancer after they vacationed with LESLIE'S WEEK. The Educational Grants are issued in the mother's name so her children will know she helped educate them.
Draw for Sight: Bicycle Poker Ride
April 24th, 8:30 a.m.; Betterton Volunteer Fire Company, Betterton
What is a bicycle poker ride? Cyclists ride on a marked route throughout Kent County drawing two playing cards at each of five drawing stations. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the 36.8 or 60 mile ride. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top ten poker hands.
