Garden Gate Fundraiser Flower Mart & Craft Fair

The Talbot County Women’s Club is hosting the “Garden Gate Fundraiser Flower Mart & Craft Fair” on April 22 through April 24 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Talbot County Women's Club located at 18 Talbot Lane in Easton (behind the Waterfowl Building). The Flower Mart will offer wide selections of geraniums, annuals, perennials, and herbs, as well as hanging baskets and garden planters for both sun and shade. The Craft Fair will offer a nice selection of outdoor living and garden décor items from pots and planters to bird feeders and birdhouses, as well as locally-made jewelry and other unique items.

Virtual Annapolis by Candlelight

A crisp evening is the perfect time to walk through a historic neighborhood in Annapolis. For the past 28 years, the experience has been made even better when the doors to some of Annapolis’s most beautiful homes were opened and you were welcomed inside. Although the COVID-19 health crisis prevented the annual in-person tour, Historic Annapolis is pleased to announce the 29th annual Annapolis by Candlelight will be presented in a new virtual format. Visitors will be able to see how 21st-century Annapolitans care for, live in, and make use of historic buildings. This tour is a fantastic reminder of the rich architectural and cultural heritage of Maryland’s capital city and showcases the many benefits of effective historic preservation. Plus, the tour will take advantage of its virtual format by including sites outside of the Historic District and some building spaces not usually open to visitors. The tour will be available for viewing for a period of one week, beginning April 23, 2021.

GreenScape is a city and community partnership investment of beautification, clean-up and planting in public spaces throughout the City of Annapolis. GreenScape was founded through the efforts of former Mayor Ellen Moyer and the Annapolis Recreation and Parks Advisory Board. Since 1991, hundreds of projects have been initiated and adopted by individuals, community groups and neighborhood associations. GreenScape takes place each spring with additional endeavors in the fall during Make a Difference Day, a national effort encouraging groups and individuals to volunteer in their community to improve the lives of others. Volunteers planted 2,525 tulip and daffodil bulbs in public spaces throughout Annapolis during Make A Difference Day in October 2020!

We are committed to running 1 million yards in honor of Yeardley Love. Your donation/registration fee directly impacts our local community; the proceeds benefit the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County and the One Love Foundation. It costs $2,500 for One Love to work and implement their programming and content in each and every school. Your help means they can continue to provide free resources and new relationship education content for our students and communities. Additionally, your donation allows the YWCA to provide formula, food, therapy, legal representation in protective orders for women, and other goods and services to women and children in Anne Arundel County. Scenic Rivers Land Trust is pleased to announce that our annual “Walk for the Woods” will return in 2021. The beloved outdoor community event is scheduled for Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Bacon Ridge Natural Area in Crownsville (rain date is April 25). Scenic Rivers will again partner with Anne Arundel County’s Department of Recreation and Parks to offer a wonderful opportunity to hike and explore this beautiful wilderness just minutes from downtown Annapolis. For the safety of participants and volunteers, the traditional event will be modified to conform with state and county COVID-19 public gathering requirements. We anticipate a fantastic, safe day in our local, protected woods!

The Smithsonian Women's Committee is hosting a virtual marketplace "Craft Optimism" April 24-May 1, 2021 celebrating creative ideas in response to climate change. The show features 100 artists with a collection of hand-crafted or small batch produced art made in America. This event is also happening during the week of Earth Day held in April and we are collaborating with Smithsonian's Earth Optimism and Honoring the Future. Craft Optimism is the first Smithsonian Craft Show to focus on climate change and features artists producing climate-conscious art.

Now in its eighteenth year, the Annapolis Book Festival is an interactive, multi-generational event that has something for book lovers of all ages. Evolving into a two-day virtual Festival in2021, this free community event attracts nationally and internationally renowned authors who discuss their books and the craft of writing. This year, the Festival will partner with AnneArundel County Public Libraries to provide these virtual programs for children: SchoolReadiness Skills, Tree Songs Puppet Show, and a Take and Make Activity. Combining entertainment with compelling author panels and educational opportunities, the Festival appeals to a wide audience and has historically attracted more than 3,000 attendees annually in addition to coverage on C-SPAN BookTV. The virtual Annapolis Book Festival will be held on Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25,2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Designed to promote and celebrate reading among all agesand interests, the event is free and open to all.
