Jesse Ruben is a singer/songwriter currently living in Brooklyn, NY. Best known for his lyrical storytelling and engaging live shows, his songs have been heard on more than a dozen TV shows in the US and abroad including Teen Mom, Switched at Birth, The Bachelor (Germany), and the recent Disney+ series Diary of a Future President. His most recent single "This Is Why I Need You” reached the top 10 in 12 different countries, and has been streamed more than 45 million times across all platforms. Beyond his music career, Ruben is highly active in philanthropic endeavors. He has run the NYC Marathon three times for The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, the largest non-profit devoted to spinal cord injuries, and five times to raise money for Lyme disease research. He is also the founder of The We Can Project, an initiative for young students designed to help them discover their passions and give back to their communities. So far, more than 500,000 students have participated. To promote the program, he was personally invited by Hoda Kotb. to perform live on The Today Show.
Annapolis Up Rigging Tall Ships Festival
May 13th through 15th; Annapolis City Docks
Two iconic tall ships, two inspiring sailing vessels and a new scientific schoor will be moored at City Dock near the Burtis House and Susan Campbell Park. It’s a SAIL-abration! The weekend will also include live music at Susan Campbell Park on all three days as well as a maritime festival on Saturday and Sunday in the City Dock parking lot between the Harbormaster’s office and the park, plus activities for the kids. Admission is free to all events.
34th Annual Decorator Showhouse to benefit Historic Ellicott City, Inc

Culturally, historically, and architecturally significant, Oakdale, circa 1838 and 1898, is the ancestral home of Governor Edwin Warfield and is a magnificent estate on a tranquil 180-acre tract only 20 miles from both the Washington and Baltimore. Historic Ellicott City, Inc announces their 34th Annual Decorator Showhouse fundraiser set to take place at “Oakdale” (16449 Ed Warfield Road, Woodbine, MD 21797) beginning on Friday, May 13, 2022 and running until Sunday, June 5, Thursdays-Sundays with varying times. The property, which boasts 12 fireplaces and many impressive original details, will be beautifully transformed by 20 local designers into a wonderful showhouse ready for visitors. Tickets will be $30 in advance and $35 at the door and all proceeds will benefit Historic Ellicott City, Inc. Calvert Artists Guild Award Show and Sale

Revolutionary Annapolis Walking Tour

Join Senior Historian Glenn E. Campbell and walk in the footsteps of patriot leader William Paca as you follow his dramatic personal and political story through the revolutionary era. Learn how a promising young lawyer became a rebel, a revolutionary, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and the Governor of Maryland through the course of less than 20 years. This 90-minute, 1.5-mile walking tour begins at the Museum of Historic Annapolis and ends at the Maryland State House, with stops at fifteen other sites along the way.

On Sunday, May 15, join us as we navigate the Choptank River, between the bridges from the the Talbot County side to the Sailwinds Park beach access point on the Dorchester County side. This 2.0 mile trip across the Choptank River and will be supported by paddle craft, motor craft and the US Coast Guard.

The Annapolis Town Center will welcome Urbano into the Town Center’s family with a Cinco De Mayo-themed street party. The party, which will benefit the nonprofit Feed It Forward DC, will take place outdoors from 3 pm to 8 pm on Towne Centre Boulevard. Live entertainment will include a DJ, Mariachis and a performance from Quimbao Latin Band. The party will include a taco bar, beer, tequila, special prize giveaways, and will conclude with fireworks. Burgers & Bands for Suicide Prevention is an organization that works to raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention. Our goal is to show people in our community that they are not alone in their struggles with mental illness. Burgers and Bands for Suicide Prevention represents hope for a light at the end of the tunnel. Our event has 2 stages with live bands and great food from the Severna Park Taphouse. Come on out for a fun day for a great cause.
