Some of those aforementioned office workers may feel pretty good about themselves because they regularly grab a yogurt for lunch. But a new study may put a big old pin in that proud-of-ourselves balloon. br
Researchers at the Autonomous University of Madrid conducted a three-year-long study involving 4,000 people and found no link between the regular intake of yogurt and improvement in physical health. The study, published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, examined the consumption of yogurt and the change in health scores to look for a correlation between lesser weight gain, lower blood pressure, and a lower rate of cardiovascular diseases.
“In comparison with people who did not eat yogurt, those who ate this dairy product did not display any significant improvement in their score on the physical component of quality of life, and although there was a slight improvement mentally, this is not statistically significant,” said lead author Ester Lopez-Garcia.
