This is a story right up Fallon’s or John Stewart’s alley...or Kimmel or Seth Meyers, for that matter.
First off, it's an “exhaustive” study of 1,600 South Koreans, between the ages of 47 and 59. (This is a classic example of the need to read the fine print and not just read the online headline.)
The study itself does have some interesting assertions though, including that night owls are more likely than early risers to develop diabetes and other health problems, even if they get the same amount of sleep.
Even the experts acknowledge that the explanation could be as simple as the fact that people who stay up later are more likely to be smokers, drinkers, and have poor eating habits.
And remember: early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise. And perhaps not from South Korea.
