That slightly whiny sibling refrain has been repeated millions of times throughout the ages. And now it appears turnabout is fair play. According to a new poll, we like her better, too!
A new, national survey reveals that if Mother’s Day and Father’s Day fell on the same day, 78 percent of adult children would choose to cele ate with mom, rather than dad. And 83 percent plan on visiting mom this Mother’s Day. When asked why they would visit their mothers, 90 percent said they love her and want to spend time with her. Ahhh. There were also those who wanted to set a good example for their own children. But one in four did admit to feelings of obligation to visit on Mother’s Day…and mom might give them a guilt trip if they didn’t. But it turns out that journey may be well earned: 60 percent of the respondents admit they sometimes feel guilty about not spending enough time with mom.
The survey, commissioned by Visiting Angels (one of the country’s largest in-home care providers), spoke to 150 men and 150 women to cull these results.
Of course, keep in mind, it is a holiday. It involves our families. Just plan ahead—it may be stressful.
